Skit maker and musician Lawal Nasiru, widely known as Nasboi, has identified himself as both a Muslim and a Christian, attributing this to his diverse family background and upbringing, which shaped his non-aligned view on tribal and religious divisions.
In a post on X, he revealed that being born to a Yoruba Muslim father and a Christian mother from Warri, alongside growing up in Port Harcourt and studying at the University of Uyo, influenced his inclusive perspective on life.
Nasboi stated that his blended cultural and religious exposure makes it impossible for him to subscribe to tribal sentiments or religious extremism.
“My papa Yoruba, my mama Warri. My papa Muslim, my mama Christian. I was born and raised in Port Harcourt. I studied at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom. This is why I can never relate to tribalism or all the religious agendas,” he wrote.
The post sparked mixed reactions, with some social media users applauding his broad-minded stance, while others described him as “confused” for not aligning with a single faith.
