Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled coordinated attacks launched by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters across several locations in Borno and Yobe states.

According to the Defence Headquarters, the terrorists carried out simultaneous assaults on military bases in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko between midnight and 4 a.m. on Thursday.

In a statement released the same day, Sani Uba, a lieutenant colonel and media officer for the joint task force, said the troops “fought gallantly and professionally,” repelling the offensives and inflicting “heavy and decisive losses” on the insurgents.

Over 50 terrorists were reportedly neutralized in the operations, while several others fled with gunshot injuries.

The troops also recovered 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition.

Uba stated that the air component of OPHK provided critical support with precision airstrikes guided by intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets.

He confirmed that some soldiers sustained injuries during the encounters but are in stable condition.

He further noted that a few buildings and vehicles were damaged by drone and RPG fire from the insurgents, particularly in Dikwa and Mafa.

“The military high command commended the gallantry and resilience of the troops. Their performance reaffirms the military’s resolve and capacity to defend the nation’s territorial integrity,” he added.
