Senator Ned Nwoko has said he pities men who have only one wife, arguing that polygamy gives men stability and balance in their homes.
The Delta North lawmaker made the statement on Sunday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
According to Nwoko, managing more than one wife represents the ideal marital structure for men, maintaining that he has no regrets about his own marriages.
“That is a different topic for discussion on another day. Yes, every man should do that. The example I give is this: just imagine telling you to stand on one foot or leg. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on two, three, four is much more balanced. That’s just the example I give. So I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg,” he said.
When asked about the belief that the Bible does not support polygamy, Nwoko replied, “The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith. But that’s not what we are here for.”
He further stated that he had no regrets about his marital decisions.
“No, I don’t have any regret. I will do the same thing again. Of course, that’s the way it should be. You should marry who you want to marry,” he said.
Addressing claims of domestic violence in his household, Nwoko dismissed the allegations.
“No, come on. You know I am not a violent person. I respect my wives. I love them and my kids,” he added.
The interview came shortly after his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, shared photos of a newly purchased mansion on Instagram, captioned, “In my house, I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
Her post followed a viral video recorded on October 18, in which she appeared in tears, claiming, “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
The couple, who married in 2019, have two children together. Their relationship, marked by a notable age difference and the politician’s polygamous background, has long drawn public attention.
Recently, the marriage has faced renewed scrutiny following Regina’s emotional posts and Nwoko’s public comments. However, neither has issued an official joint statement regarding the state of their relationship.
