The President of the Association of Corporate and Marketing Communication Professionals of Banks (ACAMB), Rasheed Bolarinwa, has restated the strategic importance of effective communication in strengthening public confidence in Nigeria’s banking sector.

He made this known during a one-hour live interview on OGBC 90.5 FM, Abeokuta, on Sunday where he spoke on the theme: “Beyond Recapitalisation: Shape of Things to Come.”

The engaging conversation delved into the ongoing recapitalisation exercise in Nigeria’s banking industry and its implications for financial stability, economic growth, and customer trust. Bolarinwa, who spoke with clarity and depth, explained that recapitalisation goes beyond regulatory compliance—it is a forward-looking measure to ensure banks remain resilient and globally competitive.

According to him, a fully recapitalised banking system will strengthen the capacity of financial institutions to lend to the real sector, enhance economic productivity, and stimulate sustainable growth. He also stressed that strong capital buffers would better position Nigerian banks to weather economic shocks and support government initiatives aimed at achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

The ACAMB President further highlighted the role of communication professionals in shaping public understanding of such key reforms. He noted that clear, transparent, and proactive engagement with stakeholders—including customers, investors, and the media—remains critical to building trust and sustaining the industry’s credibility during this pivotal phase.

Bolarinwa used the platform to underscore the importance of continuous dialogue between the banking industry and the wider public, describing the media as an essential partner in national economic transformation.

He said ACAMB will continue to leverage platforms like OGBC 90.5 FM to “tell the industry’s story right” and counter misinformation that could undermine public confidence.

In addition to the live radio appearance, Bolarinwa also featured on OGTV’s flagship programme, Hot Seat, where he granted another interview as part of a build up to upcoming ACAMB Annual Retreat scheduled to hold in Ogun State.

The session on OGTV further expanded on insights earlier shared during the OGBC programme and align with ACAMB’s mission of deepening stakeholder engagement.

In a post interview feedback he expressed appreciation to members of ACAMB for their support, describing the outing as both “impactful and rewarding.” Feedback from listeners and stakeholders, he said, had been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting growing public interest in the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s banking industry.
