The Adamawa State Police Command has refuted viral social media claims alleging that the state’s Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was beheaded by terrorists.
In a statement, the Command dismissed the report—originating from a Facebook user identified as “Lionman Lioni”—as false, malicious, and deliberately aimed at stirring fear and religious unrest among residents.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, stated this in a statement on Saturday.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, psc (+), has dismissed the claim, affirming that “no such incident has been recorded anywhere in Adamawa State.”
He urged members of the public to disregard the false report and verify information from credible sources before sharing.
The Commissioner also confirmed that an investigation has been launched to identify and prosecute those behind the misleading post.
