Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been recognised as the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year, rounding off a remarkable season defined by consistency, strength, and another historic continental victory.

The award was presented on Wednesday, November 19, during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco.

The honour follows an outstanding campaign in which the Super Falcons clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy, further cementing their position as the most decorated women’s national team on the continent.

Guided by head coach Justin Madugu, the Nigerian side dominated the group stage with commanding victories over Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria, keeping a perfect defensive record throughout.

They maintained their impressive form in the knockout phase, defeating Zambia 5–0 in the quarterfinals and narrowly beating South Africa 2–1 in a tightly contested semifinal to book their place in the final against host nation Morocco.

In a dramatic championship match, the Falcons showcased remarkable resilience. Despite trailing 2–0 in the opening 24 minutes, they staged a brilliant second-half comeback, netting three goals within 24 minutes to secure the title in sensational style.

Their success also brought individual accolades. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade earned a nomination for CAF Women’s Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made the shortlist for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

With yet another milestone-filled year, the Super Falcons continue to motivate rising female talents across the continent and strengthen Nigeria’s standing as a dominant force in women’s football.
