Leandro Trossard is a doubt for Arsenal’s crucial London derby against Chelsea on Sunday after limping off during the Gunners’ Champions League victory over Bayern Munich, Independent reports.
Trossard left the field shortly before half-time with discomfort in his left leg after receiving treatment from Arsenal’s medical staff.
He exchanged a few words with manager Mikel Arteta before heading down the tunnel. Arteta later explained: “With Leo, we don’t know [the extent of his injury]. He said he felt something. We didn’t want to take any risk, obviously.”
The development is a setback for Arteta, who has guided Arsenal to the top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables this season despite ongoing injury issues.
Noni Madueke came on as Trossard’s replacement against Bayern and scored Arsenal’s second goal, while Gabriel Martinelli also returned from injury in the second half, netting the third in the 3-1 win.
Captain Martin Odegaard was another to return late in the game, but Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes remain sidelined.
