Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has stated that only the most qualified individuals will emerge as candidates for National Assembly positions across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor made this known during his visit to Ifedore and Idanre Local Government Areas, where large crowds of enthusiastic residents and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered to receive him and his delegation.

According to Aiyedatiwa, the party would thoroughly assess all interests before choosing the most appropriate candidates. He encouraged party members to embrace dialogue and consultations among those aspiring to contest National Assembly seats.

He also called on APC members to remain united, emphasizing that internal harmony would be crucial for success in upcoming elections.

The governor appreciated residents for their strong support during the last election, describing the outcome as historic and unmatched in the state’s political history.

While addressing the issue of infrastructure, Aiyedatiwa assured the people that all ongoing road projects would be completed promptly, stressing that no project would be abandoned under his leadership.

He noted that his administration had already begun work on major roads such as the 3km Ikota Road, the 7.5km Ijare–Akure Road, and the Akure–Idanre Road, alongside the rehabilitation of several roads previously left uncompleted.

The governor also revealed that one of the construction firms handling the road projects is based in Ifedore Local Government Area.

Speaking on improved project delivery, Aiyedatiwa credited the increased pace of infrastructure development to reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, explaining that enhanced federal funding had made it possible to undertake multiple projects simultaneously.

During his visit to Idanre, the governor thanked residents for their overwhelming electoral support, highlighting the decisive role the local government played in securing his historic victory.

In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, commended the governor for restoring stability to the area after a period of crisis.
