Alaafin of Oyo installs Seyi Tinubu as Okanlomo of Yorubaland

The son of President Bola Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, has been formally installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland by Abimbola Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo.

The installation ceremony was held on Sunday at the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo town, Oyo State.

Tinubu, an entrepreneur known for his involvement in business and youth-oriented initiatives, has in recent years accompanied the president on several official and political engagements.

At the same ceremony, his wife, Layal Tinubu, received a chieftaincy title as she was installed as the Yeye Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

Also honoured at the event was Abdul’aziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara State and senator representing Zamfara West, who was installed as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland.

The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Gbenga Daniel, senator representing Ogun East; and members of the House of Representatives led by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Other attendees included members of the Federal Executive Council, traditional rulers from across Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, as well as senior government officials such as Bayo Adelabu, minister of power; Adeyemo Adeniran, statistician-general of the federation; Olawale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; and Teslim Folarin, the Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadan land.
