As Christians in Nigeria mark the 2025 holiday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has encouraged the public to look past their differences and foster togetherness, characterizing the period as a vital opportunity for the nation to reflect and heal.
In his holiday address, he offered heartfelt greetings to the people, especially the Christian community, while emphasizing the significance of the festivities for the nation’s future.
“Christmas is a solemn reminder of the virtues of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and compassion; values that Nigeria urgently needs at this moment in its history,” Atiku said.
He pointed out that the occasion is more than just a celebration, calling on Nigerians to repair damaged relationships and solidify the country’s unity, irrespective of their backgrounds.
“This season also calls us to rise above division and embrace one another in love. It is a season that invites us to heal old wounds, to forgive, and to recommit ourselves to the unity and common destiny of our nation,” he stated.
Furthermore, the former Vice President requested that citizens engage in deep thought and pray for the country, highlighting the importance of peace, fairness, and a revitalized sense of optimism amidst current hardships.
“I urge Nigerians to use the season not merely for celebration, but for quiet reflection and prayer, seeking divine guidance for peace, justice, and renewed hope for the country,” Atiku said.
He concluded by calling on the nation to leverage these core principles to build a more united and promising future.
