The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano state has removed Hashimu Dungurawa as its state party chairman, barely two weeks after his re-election.

Dungurawa is known to be an ally of Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano governor and national leader of the NNPP.

The decision was reached by 27 executive members of the party’s Gargari ward in Dawakin Tofa LGA during their second executive meeting after the general election.

The meeting was presided over by the ward chairman, Shuaibu Hassan, alongside the ward secretary, Yahaya Saidu Dungurawa.

According to the resolution, Dungurawa was sacked over allegations of fueling divisions within the party, instigating internal disputes, failing to pay party dues, and making derogatory remarks against Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano.

The ward executives said his actions were detrimental to the party’s unity, reputation, and overall progress.

They noted that the decision was taken in line with the party’s constitution and described it as necessary to uphold discipline and internal harmony.

In a statement, the executives disclosed that copies of the resolution have been forwarded to the NNPP leadership at the local government, state, and national levels.

“A total of 27 executive members signed the resolution endorsing the decision, which was reached during the ward’s second executive meeting held two weeks after the general election, under the leadership of the Ward Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan flanked by his secretary Yahaya Saidu Dungurawa,” the statement read.

“Dungurawa was removed over allegations of creating divisions within the party, instigating internal crises, failure to pay party dues, and making abusive remarks against the Governor of Kano state.”

The executives added that Rabiu Kwankwaso and the Kano governor have been notified of the action and are awaiting “further directives”.

The Gargari ward executives said the removal serves as a warning to party members who misuse their positions or consider themselves above party rules.

They reaffirmed their loyalty to Kwankwaso and pledged continued support for the party’s governor, while restating their commitment to peace, unity, and the growth of the NNPP.
