The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the “crisis” arising from Victor Osimhen’s outburst at some of his teammates during the encounter with Mozambique has been resolved.
Dayo Enebi, the Super Eagles team administrator, said the matter was settled “a couple of hours later” following the match.
Nigeria secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the second round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday.
Osimhen netted a brace, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams also found the back of the net to book Nigeria’s place in the quarter-finals.
Despite the emphatic win, an unpleasant incident marred the game. In the second half, Osimhen became visibly agitated and verbally confronted Lookman and a few other teammates, prompting intervention from fellow players to defuse the tension.
Still visibly upset, the Galatasaray striker gestured to the bench to be substituted and was subsequently replaced by Moses Simon.
After the match, Osimhen headed straight down the tunnel, declining to take part in the customary handshakes and post-match prayers with his teammates. He was also the first Nigerian player to board the team bus.

The incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians raising concerns about unity within the squad.
Addressing the situation, Enebi insisted there is “no problem” in the Super Eagles camp, describing the incident as one that occurred “between two brothers,” and confirmed that the team is “presently at training”.
He also explained that Akor Adams had been granted permission to visit his hospitalised mother in Fes, Morocco, adding that the forward has since returned to camp.
The Super Eagles are set to face either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) in the quarter-final of the tournament on January 10.
