Arsenal seek fifth home win as Man United threaten title push

Arsenal are chasing a fifth consecutive Premier League home victory against long-time rivals Manchester United this weekend as they aim to keep their distance from an unconvincing group of challengers.

The Gunners were forced to settle for back-to-back 0-0 draws in the league against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, though fellow title contenders Manchester City and Aston Villa were unable to capitalise on those dropped points.

Arsenal wary of Man Utd Carrick factor

On paper, Arsenal appear relatively comfortable heading into Manchester United’s visit, but they remain cautious of the lift that often comes with a managerial change under Michael Carrick.
United showed signs of revival in last week’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City — Carrick’s first match in his second stint as interim boss — delivering a display marked by energy and attacking intent.

However, the Red Devils, currently sitting fifth, have lacked consistency this season. Outside of a three-game winning run in October, they have struggled to string together league victories.
While United’s attacking statistics have looked strong since Ruben Amorim was dismissed earlier this month, Arsenal’s defence has been resolute, allowing no shots on target in their last two league outings.

The fierce rivalry between the clubs helped shape the Premier League’s early era, but Arsenal have not lifted the title since 2004, and United’s period of dominance now feels distant.

Arsenal are widely tipped to claim a long-awaited 14th English crown, though United would relish the chance to derail those ambitions.
