The IFFHS has named its CAF Women’s Team of the Year for 2025, which includes goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre, and midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Rasheedat Ajibade, showcasing Nigeria’s ongoing dominance in African women’s football.

Nnadozie secures her spot as goalkeeper after another outstanding year with both club and country, further solidifying her position as one of Africa’s top goalkeepers. Her consistent performances with the Super Falcons and in Europe, particularly with Paris FC and Brighton & Hove Albion, are highlighted by her sharp reflexes, leadership, and reliability.

In defense, Alozie and Plumptre are chosen for a backline that combines strength and athleticism. They are joined by South Africa’s Bambanani Mbane and Lebohang Ramalepe to form a robust and dependable defensive unit.

Nigeria’s representation continues in midfield, with Ucheibe acknowledged for her discipline and defensive prowess, while Ajibade is celebrated for her creativity and attacking skills. They are joined by Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak, the 2025 CAF African Women’s Player of the Year, to complete a dynamic midfield trio.

The forward line includes Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, Zambia’s Barbra Banda, and Morocco’s Sanaâ Mssoudy, presenting a mix of established stars and emerging talents from across the continent.

The IFFHS emphasized that this selection is forward-looking, based on statistical data and expert assessments of performances at both club and international levels. The organization noted that the team highlights the countries driving the growth and competitiveness of women’s football in Africa, particularly Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, and Zambia.

The IFFHS, founded in 1984 by FIFA in Germany, is an independent body renowned for its football statistics, rankings, and annual team selections worldwide.
