Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult campaign faced another setback after Randal Kolo Muani was involved in a car accident ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League match in Germany.

The French attacker damaged his Ferrari following a tyre blowout while travelling to Stansted Airport to catch the team’s flight to Frankfurt.

Kolo Muani escaped uninjured, and teammate Wilson Odobert stopped to check on him. Both players later made separate travel arrangements and are expected to be available for selection.

Spurs head coach Thomas Frank addressed the incident, saying: “That is my absolute understanding of everything. I haven’t spoken to them personally yet. They are fine. Everyone else involved in that accident was fine. It was a tyre blowing up… They will fly out later and I fully expect both to be available.”

Frank’s challenges were compounded by Pedro Porro being sidelined for around a month with a hamstring problem, while Micky van de Ven will also miss the trip. Despite the setbacks, Spurs can still secure a place in the Champions League last 16 with a win against a Frankfurt side currently without a manager.
