The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Esther Etiyemonu, a student at Lagos State Senior Model College Igbokuta, for emerging as a one-day governor of the state.

In a post shared on X, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that he received Etiyemonu on Monday following her victory at the 21st Lagos spelling bee competition recently organised in the state, commending her commitment and accomplishment.

“Her confidence, focus, and hard work stand out. She represents the very best of our youth, and I am incredibly proud of her achievements,” the governor wrote.

As he ceremonially handed over his seat, Sanwo-Olu added, “Esther, all of Lagos is rooting for you and your bright future. Congratulations once again.”

Etiyemonu was accompanied by the one-day deputy governor, Awoyemi Dorcas; the one-day secretary to the state government (SSG), Salami Jumai Olaide; as well as their parents.

The governor also applauded Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, for initiating the one-day governor programme, noting that it continues to inspire and develop young leaders across the state.
