The Nigeria Police Force has announced that the screening exercise for shortlisted applicants in the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables will commence in Oyo State on March 9.

According to the Oyo State Police Command, the screening exercise—being conducted in collaboration with the Police Service Commission—will run from Monday, March 9, 2026, to Friday, April 18, 2026.

The development was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka.

The statement explained that the screening exercise in the state will be held at the Officers’ Mess, Oyo State Police Command Headquarters, situated within the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. Candidates were also instructed to attend the exercise strictly on the date and time stated on their invitation slips.

Applicants were encouraged to visit the official recruitment portal to verify their application status and print the required documents before the screening date.

The command noted that candidates must present several documents at the venue, including their invitation slip with the assigned table, screening forms, proof of physical and mental fitness from a government-recognised medical hospital, National Identification Number printout or National Identity Management Commission card, O’Level certificate, birth certificate or declaration of age, and a certificate of local government or state of origin duly endorsed by the appropriate authority.

It further stated that applicants applying for specialist roles must provide their trade test certificate along with a properly completed guarantors’ form. In addition, all original and duplicate copies of credentials must be arranged neatly in two separate white flat files with recent passport photographs attached.

The statement also directed that all candidates must appear at the screening venue dressed in white T-shirts, white shorts, white canvas shoes and white stockings as specified for the exercise.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, reiterated that the recruitment process is free and cautioned applicants against dealing with fraudsters.

He said, “The recruitment process is completely free, transparent and strictly based on merit. Applicants must not pay money to anyone. Anyone caught demanding or collecting money from candidates will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The commissioner also assured eligible candidates that the command had put in place necessary arrangements to ensure the screening exercise is conducted smoothly and transparently.
