Vice President Kashim Shettima has said the federal government will not be intimidated by insurgents following recent attacks and abductions in parts of Borno State.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice president condemned the attacks in Ngoshe and the coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok, describing them as attempts to undermine peace in the country.
Shettima assured Nigerians that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the nation.
“The events of the past few days are a painful reminder of the shadow that persists, but let it be known: we choose light over shadow and hope over despair,” he said.
According to him, the president has been briefed on the situation and has directed a swift mobilisation of the country’s security architecture to address the attacks.
“The Federal Government will not tolerate any sanctuary for those who seek to displace our people or occupy an inch of Nigerian soil,” the vice president added.
He revealed that additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements have been deployed to the affected communities to strengthen security operations.
Shettima also assured that those responsible for the attacks would face the full weight of the law, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of abducted citizens.
