The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has announced a power outage affecting several communities in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The disruption was caused by a vehicular accident that knocked down a high-tension pole along Akala Expressway.

In a notice released on Monday and signed by its management, IBEDC said the accident occurred on the Oluyole 11kV feeder, leading to an immediate blackout in areas supplied by a number of affected transformers.

“Kindly be informed that due to a vehicular accident which damaged a HT pole on the Oluyole 11kV feeder along Akala Expressway, communities under the following transformers are experiencing a power outage: Adeoje 1, Adeoje 2, Adeoje 3, Adeoje 4, Red Gate, Bird Plus, Dominance, Omooke, Sofeco, White New and environs,” the notice posted on its X platform read.

The company assured residents that its technical team had begun work to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.

IBEDC apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience while repairs are being carried out.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna Electric had on Sunday informed customers of reduced power supply across its franchise areas, attributing the situation to gas supply constraints affecting generation on the national grid.

The company explained that the development had resulted in lower power allocation and increased load shedding across its network in Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

Similarly, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company earlier notified customers in Lagos State of a planned outage scheduled for Saturday, March 14.

According to the company, the outage, expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., will enable contractors from the Transmission Company of Nigeria to carry out maintenance and upgrade works aimed at improving electricity supply.
