Dr. Gbenga Hashim has responded to Monday’s Appeal Court ruling that prevented the opposition Peoples Democratic Party from holding its Ibadan convention without allowing former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido to contest for the party’s chairmanship.

Hashim described the dispute as a “family quarrel” that should be resolved through unity and reconciliation.

He emphasized that leaders from the conflicting factions have agreed, in principle, to harmonize their positions through ongoing talks and negotiations.

“This is a family quarrel that must now end at the Appeal Court. Leaders on both sides have agreed in principle to unite and harmonize positions in all the talks and negotiations we have heard,” Hashim said, stressing that the main priority is to preserve the party’s unity and stability.

Expressing optimism about the reconciliation process, he added, “We trust that this unity would be achieved by the grace of God. Nigerians earnestly expect this and posterity demands it.”

The PDP has faced internal disagreements and legal battles in recent months, a situation stakeholders say must be resolved to strengthen the party ahead of upcoming political contests.
