An attack by bandits has reportedly claimed the lives of at least three people, while several others sustained injuries in Jikamshi Town in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Musawa is regarded as one of the local government areas heavily affected by banditry, where such criminal activities continue to rise despite a recent peace agreement reportedly reached with the bandits.

Those injured during the incident were quickly taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The attack reportedly began around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday and lasted for more than an hour, at a time when some residents were preparing to break their 21st Ramadan fast.

It was gathered that the armed bandits fired shots indiscriminately, causing panic among residents who fled in different directions in search of safety.

An eyewitness revealed that the attackers also broke into several shops and looted goods worth millions of naira.

As of the time this report was filed, government officials and the police had not issued any statement on the incident, as text messages sent to the Police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, had yet to receive a response.
