The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the dominant political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jatau made the remark on Tuesday in Lafia while receiving more than 20 stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Eggon ethnic group, who are preparing to defect to the APC.

He assured both existing and new members—especially recent defectors—of equal treatment, opportunities, and full inclusion within the party.

The Speaker welcomed their decision, describing it as both timely and well thought out, and said he would notify the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, and the party leadership so they can be formally received.

He characterised the planned defection as a significant gain and another political victory for the ruling party in the state.

Jatau also urged party members to remain loyal, united, and committed, stressing that such cohesion is key to achieving a sweeping victory in 2027.

He further called on citizens to continue supporting and praying for the success of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sule.

Earlier, the group’s leader, Abubakar Company, explained that their decision to switch allegiance was influenced by the leadership style and developmental strides of Governor Sule and the Speaker.

He added that they are ready to contribute meaningfully to the APC and help secure electoral success beyond 2027.
