The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, mandating them to oversee and resolve complaints, petitions and appeals arising from the federation’s elections for the 2026–2030 executive term.

Speaking at the inauguration held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, NFF president Ibrahim Musa Gusau urged members of the committees to discharge their duties with integrity, fairness and impartiality towards all candidates.

Responding on behalf of the committees, Matthew Burka’a assured stakeholders that both bodies would handle the assignment with the highest level of seriousness and professionalism to ensure a credible electoral process.

He stressed the committees’ dedication to delivering a free, fair and transparent election that would set a standard for future polls within Nigerian football and beyond.

Burka’a also highlighted the global interest in the exercise, referencing major football bodies such as FIFA and the Confederation of African Football, as well as the Nigerian football community, noting that the committees are committed to meeting expectations.

The NFF president also unveiled the members of the Electoral Committee, which include Burka’a, Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole, with Arinze Azubuike Anughele and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi serving as alternate members.

Similarly, the Electoral Appeals Committee consists of Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, Barr. Benjamin Sati and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, while FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam will serve as alternate members.

In line with NFF statutes, the federation’s general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, will act as secretary to both committees, while elections into the NFF Executive Committee are scheduled to hold in Lafia on Saturday, September 26.
