Nigerian actress, Scarlet Gomez, has revealed that she had to undergo therapy after playing her role in the popular TV series Wura, citing the emotional toll it took on her mental health.
In a video shared by Paul and Baaz Character on YouTube on Friday, she disclosed that the psychological effects lingered even after filming ended, impacting her behaviour and interactions in everyday life.
She said, “I had to do therapy after Wura because it was bad. I went back to my YouTube jobs… and I’m supposed to play the victim, and somebody’s talking to me and I’m looking at the person like, ‘Do you know who I am?’”
According to her, the turning point came when her husband noticed a shift in her behaviour and described her as sounding “insensitive.”
Reflecting on the experience, Gomez noted that stepping out of a character can be more challenging than getting into one, especially after portraying the role for a long time.
“I always tell people… getting into a character is easier than getting out of a character, especially when you’ve played it for a long time,” she said.
