The Osun State Government has urged indigenes and registered voters living outside the state to return home and participate in the gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15.
The appeal was made by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, on Monday in Osogbo, during the send-off of over 600 holidaymakers returning to Lagos via the free train service provided by the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration for Easter celebrations.
Represented by the Special Adviser on Market Affairs, Eniola Omotosho, Jenyo explained that the initiative helps those unable to afford road transport to return home and celebrate Easter with their families. He encouraged beneficiaries and other residents outside the state to take advantage of the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election.
“Our people from outside the state should please come back home and do the needful. We just need the payback from the people of the states to re-elect his excellency again. If he can do this for the first time, you can imagine what he will do the second time,” the Commissioner stated.
Jenyo also praised Governor Adeleke for maintaining and expanding the initiative, originally introduced by a past administration, noting the governor fulfilled his promise to provide the service during the Easter period.
The Commissioner assured that the free train service would also be available for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir holiday and encouraged interested travelers to take advantage.
Highlighting Adeleke’s achievements across various sectors, Jenyo urged citizens to support his re-election. “His excellency has been tested and proved. He hasn’t given more than expected, more than what we thought he could give. I implore the people of the states to massively vote for him,” he added.
The PUNCH reports that over 600 holidaymakers had arrived in Osogbo last Friday via the free train service that departed from Lagos and passed through Ogun State and Oyo State.
