Inter Milan veteran Andrea Ranocchia hopes Alessandro Bastoni will abandon any thoughts of leaving the Nerazzurri this summer.
Bastoni’s recent red card in Italy’s World Cup playoff loss in Bosnia followed incidents against Juventus and Pierre Kalulu’s dismissal, which drew significant criticism.
The defender has since been linked with Barcelona, seen in Italy as a potential escape route.
However, after Inter’s victory against Roma last night, Ranocchia told Sportmediaset:
“Bastoni? He has a great personality, and that’s saving him right now when everything is coming down on him.
“(Inter coach Cristian) Chivu cares deeply about the boys, personally, and he instills strength in the players. A match like this is important for him. I wouldn’t leave the Italian league for this situation, and I don’t think he wants to either.
“Many others would have been devastated and would have had a hard time leaving the house. He lets a lot of things slide, even though the threats have affected his daughter and wife. These things have an impact.”
