Gombe shakes up Civil Service as Yahaya reassigns permanent secretaries

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has approved the redeployment of Permanent Secretaries across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in a move designed to improve governance efficiency and service delivery in the state.

The approval was conveyed by the Head of Civil Service, Professor Muazu Shehu, through a statement issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Ismaila Misilli. He explained that the exercise reflects the administration’s drive to strengthen public service performance, ensure continuity, and promote professionalism within the civil service.

According to him, the postings are part of broader reforms aimed at repositioning the workforce for better results. He noted that the changes are expected to improve coordination among MDAs and align government operations more closely with the governor’s development agenda.

Several senior civil servants were affected by the reshuffle. Among them, Alhaji Jalo Ibrahim-Ali was posted to the Ministry of Finance while also overseeing the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, while Idris Yambiu-Buba was assigned to the Ministry of Health with additional responsibility for Higher Education.

Mohammed Mohammed Galadima now serves in the Ministry of Information alongside oversight of Science, Technology and Innovation, while Danladi Adamu retains his role in the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.

Other appointments include Larai Maigari to the Establishment and Service Matters Department in the Office of the Head of Service, and Suleiman Musa-Kwami to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with oversight of the Civil Service Commission.

Abubakar Hassan has been moved to the Ministry of Education while continuing supervision of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, and Salisu Adamu-Sambo remains in Special Services and Political Affairs with responsibility for Cabinet and General Duties.

Shuaibu Ibrahim now serves in the Ministry of Local Government while still overseeing the Teachers Service Commission, while Adamu Moh’d-Kala moves to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism.

Sa’adatu Bome-Ishaya has been assigned to the Deputy Governor’s Office with oversight of the State Independent Electoral Commission, and Abubakar Babayo-Hassan has been deployed to the Local Government Service Commission.

Others such as Moh’d Ismail Hinna (Justice), Muhammad Bello Abubakar-Kumo (Water Resources, Environment and Forestry), and Alhassan Ibrahim (Government House) retained their positions, while Ahmed Sa’eed-Guli and Dr. Lawan Bala also received new responsibilities across multiple sectors.

The government said the redeployment takes immediate effect, with affected officers expected to apply their experience to improve policy implementation and service delivery across the state.
