The Department of State Services (DSS) has brought charges against Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna state, over allegations of accessing the telephone conversation of Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser (NSA).
The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory is facing a five-count amended charge before a federal high court in Abuja.
At the start of proceedings on Thursday, the prosecution informed the court that the charge had been increased from three counts to five.
Following this, Joyce Abdulmalik, the presiding judge, struck out the earlier charge.
El-Rufai, however, pleaded not guilty to the five-count amended charge.
