The Nigeria Democratic Congress has said it is opening its doors to members of other political parties across the country, expressing confidence in its chances of winning the 2027 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, Imo State capital, on Thursday, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South East, Chief Teddy Obey, described the NDC as a “clean, uncompromised platform” for Nigerians tired of “recycled promises.”

“Nigeria is looking for a clean, uncompromised platform. That platform is NDC,” Obey declared.

He maintained that the party’s key advantage is being the newest political party in the country and the only one without any ongoing court cases affecting its structure.

“Go and check. Others are in court, dragging over who owns their souls. We’re in the field building our structure. A house divided against itself cannot stand. A house without a court case can stand,” he said.

Obey explained that his visit to Imo State was aimed at convening a meeting at a neutral venue to achieve two main objectives, noting that the first was to address grievances openly, while the second was to prevent any suspicion of compromise. He added that the party must demonstrate its difference as a new political platform.

He also announced interim leadership appointments for the party in Imo State.

According to him, Reginald Uwakwe has been appointed Interim State Chairman, while Fabian Onyekwulisi will serve as Chairman of both the Contact and Mobilisation Committee and the Candidate Selection Processes Committee.
