Ekiti Council of Elders has revealed plans to introduce younger affiliate members into its structure as part of efforts to modernise operations and improve efficiency.

The Council’s President, Joseph Oluwasanmi, and General Secretary, Niyi Ajibulu, made this known in a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

They explained that the move aims to add “spice, vigour and strength” to the Council’s activities while expanding its contribution to development.

According to the statement, eight pioneer affiliate members will be inducted on Thursday at the Elders’ Resort Centre in Ado Ekiti.

The Council, which is exclusively for indigenes of Ekiti State aged 60 and above, has traditionally functioned as an advisory body on governance and state matters.

The pioneer affiliate members include Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye; development expert, Margaret Fagboyo; CEO of Agbeyewa Farms, Seyi Aiyeleso; international consultant, Temitope Longe; engineer Oladipupo Bamisaye; entrepreneur Lawrence Egunjobi; lawyer Oluwadola Abe; and broadcaster Oluwakayode Jegede.

The Council noted that the affiliates would bring innovative ideas and modern best practices to strengthen its programmes and enhance service delivery.

“They are also expected to recommend possible interventions in the affairs of government for improved performance and as well carry out activities that will promote the vision and mission of the Elders’ Council,” the statement added.

The Council reiterated its dedication to the growth and development of Ekiti State, stressing that its members possess vast experience and expertise across different sectors.
