Veteran entertainer Charly Boy has revisited his widely discussed confrontation with former Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha during his father’s burial in 2014, defending his actions at the event.
Speaking in a recent interview, Charly Boy recalled seizing the microphone from the former governor while he was addressing guests at the funeral ceremony.
According to the entertainer, he believed Okorocha was attempting to turn the occasion into a political campaign, something he strongly opposed.
“Mmhmm. Is that a cr!me? I for don sl@p am. He wanted to use my father’s burial as a campaign for politics. And you don’t do that. Not when I’m around,” he said.
Charly Boy also stated that he ordered the former governor out of the venue, insisting that Okorocha knew he was in “his territory” despite arriving with security personnel.
“You don’t do that kind of bull$h!t so I had to send him out.
“And he knew he was in my territory. Even with all his bodyguards, na my territory him dey…” he added.
The incident, which happened during the burial of Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, Charly Boy’s father, generated widespread reactions at the time and remains one of the entertainer’s most talked-about public confrontations.
