Neymar has boosted hopes of playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after earning a place in Brazil’s 55-man provisional squad announced by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Veteran sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development in a recent post on X, formerly known as X.

The 34-year-old forward for Santos FC, who has struggled with injuries in recent years, is still working to prove his fitness ahead of the tournament set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next month.

Reports also revealed that Estevao Willian of Chelsea FC was omitted from the provisional squad after sustaining a hamstring injury that ended his chances of selection.

According to reports from Brazil, Ancelotti remains careful about Neymar’s fitness and is expected to choose only players capable of performing at the highest level.

While Neymar’s place in the final 26-man squad is still uncertain, the former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star is said to be determined to feature in what may become his final World Cup appearance.

Brazil, aiming for a record sixth FIFA World Cup title, will unveil their final squad on May 18. The Brazil national football team are widely regarded as one of the favourites to lift the trophy under Ancelotti’s guidance.
