The Kano State Government has declared the Eid-el-Kabir holiday for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.

The announcement was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai.

According to the statement, students in day schools will commence the Sallah holiday on Friday, May 22, 2026, and resume classes on Monday, June 1, 2026.

“Boarding students are expected to begin their holiday on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and return to school on Sunday, May 31, 2026.”

The ministry urged parents and guardians, particularly those with children in boarding schools, to ensure proper arrangements are made for the pickup and return of their wards on the approved dates.

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, conveyed his goodwill to students, teachers, and parents, wishing them a peaceful and happy Sallah celebration.

He further stated that the holiday would not disrupt the academic calendar.

The ministry emphasized that adherence to the holiday and resumption schedule is mandatory for all schools, adding that the government is determined to ensure the curriculum is completed as planned.
