President Bola Tinubu has moved swiftly in response to the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, dispatching a delegation of senior government and security officials to the affected communities in Ogbomoso.

The team, led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, includes National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunde Disu, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe, and presidential spokesman Sunday Dare.

Their visit follows a reported attack on schools in the Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area, where armed men allegedly invaded educational facilities and whisked away about 46 pupils and teachers.

The incident has triggered concern among residents and renewed fears over the safety of schools in parts of the country.

Confirming the development on Sunday, Sunday Dare disclosed that President Tinubu had directed an immediate security response aimed at rescuing the victims and tracking down those responsible for the attack.

“A powerful Presidential Delegation just arrived Ogbomoso en route to the villages of Esiele and Yawota where armed men simultaneously raided Baptist Nursery and Primary schools seizing about 46 pupils and teachers,” Dare wrote.

According to him, security agencies have been instructed to intensify ongoing operations and ensure the abductors face justice.

Families of the victims and members of the affected communities have continued to appeal for urgent intervention as rescue efforts progress. Authorities have yet to announce any breakthrough regarding the location of those abducted.
