Fast-rising Nigerian artiste Shoday has revealed that his decision to stay away from tattoos is part of a long-term strategy to keep other career opportunities available should his music journey take an unexpected turn.

The singer made the disclosure during a recent conversation on the Ada’s Room podcast, where he spoke about balancing ambition with practicality.

According to the 26-year-old performer, he has always believed in preparing for different outcomes, which influenced his choice not to make permanent changes to his appearance.

“I studied building technology in school, and I am here doing music. I knew that if music does not work, look at my body, do you see any tattoos? It is because I am sceptical. If music does not work, I would dust my CV, and I am back in the office,” he said.

Reflecting on his educational background, Shoday noted that he could easily return to a corporate environment if necessary, though he remains committed to building a lasting career in music.

“I’d be on low cuts. Straight up, I am back in the office. This music is what I am doing for life. I used to tell people that if God did not want me to go far, I would not get to this point that I am currently at. The fact that I am here, and I have done it consistently, not one, not two, not five songs, and I am still here, that means God really want me to do this.”

Beyond discussing his personal choices, the singer encouraged young creatives to avoid putting all their hopes into a single venture, stressing the value of having alternatives when things do not unfold as expected.

“One thing I have kind of learned so far in life is that it would not be sweet. Sometimes, it would not go as planned. Always have plan B. Always know when to quickly flip the script and do something else,” he said.

Shoday recently released his first studio album, Hybrid, a 14-track project that has helped solidify his growing presence in the Nigerian music industry and positioned him among emerging talents attracting attention this year.
