Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has condemned the attack on the chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State, Asimiyu Ajibola, popularly known as Baba Isila, calling on political actors to embrace peaceful democratic processes.

The singer reacted on Thursday after suspected gunmen reportedly attacked Ajibola and his associates on Wednesday night in Osogbo, leaving the politician injured.

According to details shared by Davido on his X account, the incident happened around 9:50 p.m. near the Osogbo Community Bank axis in the MDS area, where gunmen allegedly opened fire on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his associates.

The attack reportedly triggered panic in the area, while the Accord Party leader was rushed to a teaching hospital for medical attention.

Reacting to the incident, Davido stressed that political disagreements should never escalate into violence or insecurity.

“Regardless of our political differences, everyone must make sure they are not contributing to insecurity in our nation,” he wrote.

“The attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all.”

The singer further urged political stakeholders to resolve disputes through elections rather than violence.

“If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons,” he added.

The incident comes ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, is expected to seek re-election.
