The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the ruling party possesses the strength, structure, and support base needed to secure victory in the upcoming Ekiti governorship election and the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti governorship election in Abuja, Yilwatda presented the party’s flag to incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who is seeking a second term in office.

The APC chairman praised Oyebanji’s performance in office, highlighting achievements in infrastructure, social welfare, education, and healthcare. He described the governor as a unifying leader whose projects are improving lives across the state.

According to Yilwatda, the APC remains Nigeria’s most formidable political platform, boasting the capacity, manpower, and resources required to win elections at all levels. He added that funding would not be a challenge, stressing that the party was assembling an inclusive campaign structure capable of mobilising support from the grassroots to the national level.

Also speaking at the event, Godswill Akpabio, who serves as co-chairman of the campaign council, urged party aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections to accept the outcomes of APC primaries in good faith. He maintained that party unity would be crucial to future electoral successes.

Campaign council chairman and Uba Sani said the council had already established campaign structures across all 16 local government areas and 177 wards in Ekiti State. He noted that grassroots mobilisation would form the backbone of the party’s strategy.

Sani further stated that the campaign would prioritise engagement with youths and women, describing them as critical stakeholders in the state’s future. He emphasised that the election was not only about retaining power but also about sustaining development and ensuring that residents continue to benefit from good governance.

The APC leadership concluded by calling for unity, commitment, and vigorous mobilisation ahead of the governorship election, expressing confidence that the party would secure another term for Governor Oyebanji.
