Two suspects linked to the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry student of Prince Abubakar Audu University, David Ocholi Solomon, have been handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, disclosed this on Friday during a condolence visit by the institution’s management to the deceased student’s family.

According to him, the suspects were arrested by the university’s internal security team within two hours of the incident and subsequently transferred to relevant security agencies to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

Professor Usman assured the family that the university would closely follow the case and work with security agencies to ensure that anyone found responsible after the investigation is brought to justice.

He described the killing as a tragic incident that has left the university community in mourning, adding that the institution remains committed to supporting efforts to uncover the full details of the case.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s zero-tolerance policy on cultism, violence, and other criminal activities, noting that security measures had been strengthened across the campus and neighbouring communities to prevent similar incidents.

He added that further security reforms would be introduced in the coming days to enhance the safety of students, staff, and visitors.

Professor Usman also appealed to members of the public and the deceased’s family to provide any useful information that could assist investigators in establishing the facts surrounding the case.

He expressed confidence that due process would be followed in the investigation and prosecution of the suspects.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s father, Mr. Solomon Idachaba, praised the university for its swift response and expressed optimism that justice would be achieved through the ongoing investigation.
