Edo Queens have emerged champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) for the 2025/26 season.

The title was confirmed after they played out a goalless draw with Bayelsa Queens in the final round of NWFL Premiership Super Six fixtures held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday.

The victory marks the club’s second NWFL crown in three years under coach Moses Aduku. Going into the match, Edo Queens were on nine points and required just a draw to seal the championship.

“Edo Queens have been dropping chart-toppers all season, and the final track is gold! NWFL 2025/2026 secured — the victory anthem is loud, proud, and unstoppable. Adaaa Edo Queens,” the club wrote.

In other matches played on the same day, Nasarawa Amazons drew with Rivers Angels, while Abia Angels also shared the spoils with FC Robo Queens.

The final standings placed Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons in second place with eight points each. Abia Angels finished with six points, Robo Queens ended with four points, while Rivers Angels also concluded the tournament with the same tally.

Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Cup, which serves as the qualifying competition for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, Robo Queens’ Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was named the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership Player of the Season for her impressive performances throughout the campaign.

Fatima Okolo of Abia Angels won the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award, while Rivers Angels received the Fair Play Award for their conduct on and off the pitch.

The top scorer award was shared between Abasiofoh Uwah of Rivers Angels and Atume Doorsuur of Edo Queens.

“A well-deserved shared honour for two outstanding forwards with 13 goals,” the NWFL wrote on its official handle on Sunday after the Super Six tournament.
