Popular content creator threatens legal action over false drug trafficking rumours

The Nigerian content creator popularly known as Officer Woos, Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, has reacted to viral claims alleging that he was arrested over drug trafficking.

The rumours claimed that the skit maker was arrested by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in 2025 for allegedly importing bread and brownies allegedly laced with cocaine from Mexico.

In a statement issued through Instagram on Friday by his legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, Gbadamosi dismissed the allegations, describing them as “entirely false, fabricated, and without any basis whatsoever”.

According to the statement, the content creator has never been arrested, investigated, or charged over any drug-related offence. It also clarified that he never posted about the death of any associate on his social media platforms.

His legal team described the allegations as a calculated attempt to mislead the public and tarnish his reputation.

Citing Nigerian defamation laws, the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, and the Criminal Code, the law firm demanded an immediate and unconditional retraction, alongside a public apology from those responsible within 48 hours.

Gbadamosi has also instructed his lawyers to pursue legal action, including civil suits for damages and petitions to law enforcement and regulatory agencies against individuals or platforms that continue to circulate the claims.

He urged the public to rely only on verified information from his official platforms and legal representatives.

In a post accompanying the statement, Officer Woos wrote: “The claims are entirely false, fabricated, and without basis. This will be handled through the appropriate legal channels. Thank you for your understanding”.

The legal team said they act as solicitors to Mr. Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, also known as “Officer Woos”, describing him as a respected content creator and public figure, and issued the statement in response to what they called a coordinated campaign of false and defamatory publications circulating on social media.

They said unverified and anonymous accounts alleged that he had been under arrest since 2025 over drug trafficking claims and had also publicly announced the death of a close colleague.

The lawyers insisted both claims were false, stating that he has never been arrested, investigated, or charged in connection with any drug-related allegations at any time, and also never made any such death announcement.

They described the publications as deliberate misinformation aimed at damaging his reputation and brand.

They added that such false statements amount to defamation under Nigerian law and may attract legal consequences under relevant statutes, including cybercrime laws.

The legal team demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from all individuals and platforms responsible within 48 hours.

They also warned that they have instructions to pursue legal action against original publishers and anyone continuing to circulate or amplify the claims, including lawsuits for damages and formal petitions to authorities.

They urged the public to disregard the allegations and rely only on verified official statements from the client and his legal representatives.
