Police nab three in Bauchi for armed robbery, murder

The Bauchi State Police Command has taken into custody three suspects linked to a case of armed robbery and culpable homicide in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the arrests were made after a complaint was filed at the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters on March 7, 2026.

He explained that investigations led to the arrest of Muhammad Umar, also known as “Jijji,” aged 25, on June 19, 2026, after he was found in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.

Habib added that the suspect allegedly admitted involvement during questioning and later named two other individuals connected to the incident.

“Acting on the report made at Alkaleri Division on March 7, 2026, one of the suspects, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, alias ‘Jijji’, aged 25, was arrested on June 19, 2026, while in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.

“During interrogation, ‘Jijji’ mentioned two other accomplices in connection with the crime. In a swift follow-up operation, detectives also arrested Usman M. Gidado, 45, and Danladi Yakubu, alias ‘Pagaj’, 35, all of Gwaram Town in Alkaleri Local Government Area, where the offence was committed,” the statement read.

The police confirmed that the recovered motorcycle has been secured as evidence, while the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the operatives for their prompt action and professionalism during the operation.

He reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain the fight against violent crime and ensure justice for victims across the state.
