A viral video circulating on X has sparked widespread reactions after a woman was seen publicly slapping her husband and striking him with a piece of wood.
In the video, the woman is heard telling her husband to leave the house. However, the man appears reluctant to leave, repeatedly asking her to give him clothes to wear before he goes.
The man is further heard saying, “you didn’t give me cloth to wear, and you are asking me to leave the house, I am not fighting with you, I did not do anything, just give me cloth to be going, I am not mad.”
One of the neighbors is also heard appealing to the woman, saying, “mummy Iyanu have patience”.
The footage has generated debate on social media, with many users condemning the act as domestic violence and calling for the intervention of the Nigerian Police Force and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
Several social media users expressed concern over the incident, arguing that domestic violence should be addressed regardless of the victim’s gender.

Here are some of the reactions:
Vampz @Hybrid_Ola: This is DV!!! So many men go through this in their marriages and suffër in silence because they’re afraid nobody will believe them. This woman needs to be arrestëd! In situations like this , I’ll support it if a man defends himself The moment you lay your hand on a man , you just told him you guys are in the brotherhood together!!!
MumZee @_DebbieOA: Ahh, it’ll be taken lightly cause it’s a woman.
STACEY’S LUXURY 👸❤️✨ @STACEYLUXUbs: Not only women go through abuse, men go through abuse too. Some men are beaten, insulted, controlled and treated like trash in their marriages, especially when the woman is the breadwinner. Abuse is abuse, no matter who is doing it. There was a video I watched online of a woman beating her husband publicly and it honestly made me so uncomfortable. She was slapping this man in front of strangers, shouting at him, hitting him so hard like he was nothing. Imagine what he is going through in the house ,like I was crying while watching the video ,The fear on that man’s face was scary to watch. The moment she told him to enter the house, he quietly went inside, like a vegetable,a woman ,I was genuinely sad watching it. I don’t like seeing marriages where couples are always fighting, beating each other or trying to embarrass one another publicly. Marriage is already hard enough,Whether you are rich or poor, there should still be peace, respect and self-control. And this is why I always say both men and women should work hard and have something doing. Money doesn’t solve every problem, but financial stability can reduce a lot of insults, frustration and unhealthy dependence in relationships. Respect also matters a lot in marriage. Not fear like terror or abuse, but the kind of respect where both partners know each other’s boundaries, values and dislikes. The kind where you think before doing something because you care about your partner’s feelings. I grew up in a home where my parents never fought physically. Same with my uncle and his wife. Even when they had issues, they handled it privately and found ways to settle it peacefully. So seeing couples constantly beating each other online is something I will never understand.
T&C Gadgets and trades @Toochi91: Few days ago, a video flew across timeline showing a man beating his wife and in days, an arrest was made, Nigerian police, please do your job.
Butterflybaby🦋🦋xx @Butterflyb51862: Everyone guess what!! The CS is full of blame for the woman, no one has accused the man of picking wrong or choosing to stay with someone who beats him. They all pity him and understand women are wicked. But for that 18yr old girl, someone said she loves sex and deserves it.
Hanzo @haNzo_DowMaker: This is not really about money, though it is. But I refuse to tie my respect to money. I don’t need to have money first before I accept to be loved. I dont need to make money first to earn my woman’s respect. I wont keep you if you don’t respect me. And even if I had the money already, I won’t use my money to win you. This video may be about him being poor, but men should be men first, and stop depending on money to be men. Unfortunately, women only respect men based on how much money they have, but I prove it to you that it is only weak men who tolerate all of that. This is really sad.

Victoria Olamide @VikyInsights:Can the Authorities Do the needful before she Kill the man!… Or is Domestic Voilence a Selective Judgement?.
Engr Olami @Engr_Ashile: If they don’t have kids the man should just leave her and go sort life by himself
Umuojime | @umuojime: A society that laughs at violence against some victims while condemning it against others is not fighting violence consistently. The principle must be the same for everyone.
