The family of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has questioned the circumstances surrounding his death and burial, saying they have been left without clear information about what happened.
Ekubo, who reportedly died in May after battling kidney cancer, was buried in Abia State following funeral activities attended by relatives, friends, and colleagues.
In a statement released by his cousin, David Ekubo, the family said several aspects of the actor’s final days and passing remain unresolved. They alleged that relatives who collected his remains from the mortuary were not allowed to inspect the body and claimed close family members were not properly briefed on the events leading to his death.
Describing the situation as “suspicious”, the family expressed dissatisfaction with how matters were handled, including certain decisions made during the funeral arrangements. They insisted that key questions about the actor’s sudden death remain unanswered.
The family further stated that Ekubo’s mother and only sibling have yet to receive a detailed explanation regarding the circumstances of his passing.
Neither the actor’s management team nor any official representative had responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
