Fubara presents medium-term expenditure framework to Rivers assembly

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally transmitted Rivers State’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework covering 2026 to 2028 to the State House of Assembly for legislative consideration.

The document was received during an emergency sitting of the Assembly on Thursday, with Speaker Martin Amaewhule informing lawmakers of its submission.

Despite acknowledging receipt of the framework, the House did not immediately deliberate on it, opting instead to postpone discussions until a future sitting before adjourning proceedings.

The development marks the Assembly’s first plenary in about four months. Lawmakers last met in February to screen commissioner nominees nominated by the governor before embarking on an indefinite break.

Earlier in January, the House had convened amid moves to impeach the governor. Although a date was later fixed for members to resume sitting in February, the planned session never took place.

The expenditure framework is expected to provide the foundation for the state’s budgeting plans over the next three years.

Further details are expected.
