The Group K meeting between Portugal and Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has generated extraordinary global interest, becoming one of the standout fixtures of the group stage even before kickoff.

According to reports from TNT Sports and The Athletic, the match scheduled for Saturday evening at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, recorded over five million ticket requests within the first 24 hours of release.

The demand has made it the most sought-after group-stage game, with resale markets also reflecting the frenzy as ticket prices reportedly climbed above $7,000.

The Athletic further noted that the fixture topped interest across all 72 group-stage matches, highlighting its massive global appeal.

Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez admitted the popularity of the game even affected his personal planning, revealing he had to secure tickets well in advance for his family.

“Well, it means I had to buy tickets for my family in November. That’s what it means,” Martinez was quoted as saying during a pre-match conference. “Because I knew it was going to be difficult to get tickets.”

The encounter is being widely described as a potential knockout-level showdown despite being in the group phase, due to the quality and form of both teams.

Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, comes into the game with four points from two matches, including a commanding 5-0 win over Uzbekistan where the forward netted twice. Colombia, on the other hand, have enjoyed a perfect start and sit at the top of the group.

The fixture is expected to draw huge crowds, particularly in Miami, where large Portuguese and Colombian communities, as well as global football fans, are expected to turn out in large numbers.

Resale platforms have also seen intense activity, with premium tickets reportedly listed between $6,000 and $7,000, while some secondary sellers are advertising lower-tier options ranging from $470 to $600.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm local time (12:30 am Nigerian time on Sunday), with expectations of a high-intensity encounter that could shape the group standings heading into the Round of 32.
