Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has praised Olatunji Disu for initiating the joint Ogun-Lagos security initiative, Operation Kosaye, describing it as a proactive, intelligence-led operation that has significantly improved security in both states.

In a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Abiodun said the operation has recorded notable achievements through coordinated security operations targeting forests and criminal hideouts along the Ogun-Lagos border.

According to the governor, the operation has led to the neutralisation of armed kidnappers, the arrest of several criminal suspects, and the rescue of kidnapped victims, helping to restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and reinforcing efforts to protect lives and property.

He noted that the sustained offensive has made Ogun and Lagos increasingly hostile to kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals who previously exploited border communities as safe havens.

Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with logistics, operational resources and technology, adding that investments in surveillance infrastructure and operational mobility have strengthened policing across the state.

The governor also commended the Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos States, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, as well as officers involved in the operation, for their professionalism, courage and dedication.

He said the success of Operation Kosaye demonstrates the importance of intelligence sharing, collaboration and coordinated inter-state security operations, urging other states to adopt similar partnerships to prevent criminals from exploiting state boundaries.

Operation Kosaye was jointly launched by the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands to address growing security threats along the shared border. So far, the operation has neutralised four suspected kidnappers, rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested 88 suspects.
