Uba Sani has assured the family of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu that everyone responsible for her killing will be brought to justice, while pledging that the Kaduna State Government will sponsor the education and welfare of the children she left behind.

The governor gave the assurance during a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Maraban Jos, Kaduna, where he met with the deceased’s husband, Aliyu Mohammed, and other relatives.

Ummulkhairi, an Islamic teacher, was killed by a mob after being accused of child theft, an incident that drew widespread condemnation from security agencies, civil society organisations and community leaders, who described it as a disturbing act of mob justice.

During the visit, Governor Sani said security agencies were making steady progress in the investigation and remained committed to ensuring that all those involved were brought to justice.

According to him, 41 suspects have already been arraigned for culpable homicide, while another 30 have been charged with unlawful assembly. He added that 17 individuals found not culpable had been released, while 41 others remain under investigation as authorities continue efforts to arrest additional suspects still at large.

The governor stressed that no one involved in the incident would escape justice, regardless of their number, and warned that any police officer found to have played a direct or indirect role in the killing would also face the full weight of the law.

Beyond the legal process, Sani announced that the Kaduna State Government would assume responsibility for the education and welfare of the deceased’s children to ease the burden on the family.

He also prayed for the peaceful repose of Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant her family the strength and patience to bear the loss.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to standing by the family throughout the legal process while ensuring justice is served.
