The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned that suspected bandits could target the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the coming weeks, calling on security agencies to be proactive.

The warning was delivered during a church service on Sunday and later shared in a video posted on the cleric’s official TikTok page.

Speaking during the service, Ayodele said, “Ibadan. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. July/August, I do not know the precise time. Bandits will block the road. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. They will block the road. So the security agencies should note this.”

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway serves as a major transport corridor connecting Lagos with states across the South-West and northern Nigeria, making it one of the country’s busiest highways.

As of the time this report was filed, the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force had not issued any official security advisory regarding the cleric’s warning.

The latest prediction comes amid growing concerns over insecurity, particularly following recent cases of kidnapping and attacks in parts of the South-West.

In an earlier statement, Ayodele faulted the Federal Government over the nation’s security challenges, accusing it of failing to adequately safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.

His latest warning also follows the recent abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, raising fresh concerns about the spread of banditry beyond its traditional strongholds.
