Coventry City have confirmed the permanent signing of Frank Onyeka from Brentford after the midfielder’s successful loan spell at the club.
The newly promoted side announced the deal on June 30, stating that the transfer fee was not disclosed. Onyeka initially joined Coventry on loan in January, and his move has now been made permanent following the activation of a clause in his agreement with Brentford.
The midfielder played an important role in Coventry’s Championship-winning campaign under manager Frank Lampard, contributing strongly in midfield throughout his loan period.
During his stint, Onyeka made 14 appearances and scored a standout goal in a key fixture against Derby County in April.
The 28-year-old brings considerable top-flight experience, having featured 75 times in the Premier League for Brentford before his move.
His permanent contract is expected to officially commence on Wednesday, July 1.
The club described the deal as part of their continued strengthening ahead of their return to top-tier football.
