The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced a three-week suspension of its Kajola–Apapa (BAT) Passenger Train Service to carry out routine maintenance on its locomotives and coaches.
The suspension will begin on Monday, July 6, 2026, with train operations scheduled to resume on Monday, July 27, 2026.
The corporation also stated that the final passenger service on the route before the maintenance break will run on Friday, July 3.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa.
The corporation explained that the maintenance exercise was necessary to ensure the continued safety, reliability and efficiency of its passenger train operations.
It, however, assured customers that freight train operations to and from the Apapa Port Complex, as well as other train terminals on both the Narrow Gauge and Standard Gauge corridors, would continue uninterrupted throughout the maintenance period.
To mitigate the impact of the temporary suspension, the NRC advised commuters to make use of its Lagos Mass Transit Train (LMTT) services, which operate every weekday from Monday to Friday.
The corporation said the morning services depart Ijoko at 6:30 a.m. and Kajola at 7:00 a.m. for Iddo, while the return evening services leave Iddo at 5:30 p.m. for Ijoko and at 6:15 p.m. for Kajola.
